АХ, ЭТА РЫЖЕНЬКАЯ!

Она была кокетка. Маленькая, с пятнышками и рыжая.

Прелестная кошечка. И не то, чтобы совсем рыжая. Скорее светло-бежевая с темно-бежевыми точечными пятнами. Редкая окраска. И не то, чтобы очень умная. Но хорошенькая до невозможности.

Игручая она была. И вот, сломала лапку. Как ухитрилась? Видно, под дверь подсунула. Я обнаружила повисшую лапку и бегом в цирк. У нас рядом городской цирк, а там врач-ветеринар. Посторонних тоже иногда принимает, кто обратится. Он посмотрел, наложил шину. Сказал, разрезать повязку, если будет отекать. И пошли мы домой. К вечеру лапка действительно отекла. Как я боялась разрезать повязку! Но деваться некуда, справилась.

А она продолжала бегать и играть. Несмотря на шину. И была такая же восхитительно грациозная. Несмотря на шину. — “Неужели ей не больно? И что делать дальше?” – Ветеринар из цирка был занят на представлении. А я… Я же не врач. Откуда я знаю, что делать? И пошла я в обычную ветеринарку. Никогда раньше не ходила. Необходимости не было. А я ветеринаров боюсь, как и человеческих врачей. Вот живешь обычной жизнью, и вроде бы все в порядке. А как начнешь лечиться – прощай здоровье. Так что я держалась подальше. Да и кошка никогда не болела. Но тут особый случай – травма, у котенка. Как без грамотного руководства?

А в ветеринарке доктор, хирург. Молодой, но опытный. Он мою красотку осмотрел. Сказал: “Все сделано правильно. Не трогать, пусть заживает.” А сам от нее оторваться не может. Лобиком к лобику прижимается. И чуть сам не мурчит. И его очаровала. Бывают же такие! Всем нравится. И он, наверное, пожалел, что не может ее себе оставить. “Всех не оставишь!” А она, похоже, не все. Она особенная. Доктор все объяснял, как с ней обращаться. И про еду, и про прививки. А я… Я слушала в пол уха. Мне зачем? Ее судьба была уже решена. Новые хозяева уже ждали. Вот только долечится.

И все сложилось для нее счастливо. И для новых хозяев тоже.

— А для меня? Я ведь, как тот доктор, влюбилась. В эту рыженькую, особенную.

Но я тоже решила “Всех не оставишь.” Всех, конечно, не оставишь. Но эту рыженькую…

Нехорошо, наверное, не отпускать.

А я все вспоминаю и вспоминаю:

“Ах, эта рыженькая!”

Между прочим, ее звали Мелита.
